Hero Factory Stringer review (Breakout wave 2)

Stringer was the last hero to be released in the US from LEGO's Hero Factory Breakout series wave 2, for Summer 2012. In this review I give a quick overview of his parts, do a speed build, and then offer my thoughts on the completed figure and his changes from the original form.

  1. He's the last one? I thought there was still Evo and XT4?

  3. I agree that LEGO should have made the solid blue armor trans-blue. The speaker piece is nice, but it feels a little out of place being the only gunmetal part. Still, at least his main color is black so its not completely out of place.

    1. Well you know, the handcuffs are gunmetal too. Just sayin'. ;)

But you're right, perhaps if the guitar had been gunmetal...

  4. Credit to whoever posted the following comment on YouTube, cuz i totally agree:
    "Anyone notice that:
    Stringer's first name is Jimi
    He has sound based powers
He appears to play left handed
    His weapon is a guitar
    He's a talented musician
He's pretty much a shout out to Jimi Hendrix"

    1. You know, Lego has acknowledged that he is based on Hendrix. >.>

(For some reason I suddenly picture Stringer in the Butterfly Suit. Weird.)

    2. Another thing that LEGO might have taken inspiration from for hero factory is an old film called "Murder Ahoy!". In this film, one of the main characters is called Jim Stringer and there is also mention of a book called "The Doom Box"......

    3. @ Chronos, Lord of Time: Oh, I never heard that, where did you hear it? I only found the comment on Youtube

    4. I think someone on Eurobricks and/or BZPower (possibly DarthVader or Dorek, I don't remember) who has occasional contact with TLC said that the similarities were deliberate.

  5. I thought that there could be a link:)

    1. To what, may I ask?

If it's the Hendrix thing, I have no link. It was months ago and I honestly am not inclined to dive into the Eurobricks metaphorical AC archives.

If you want the comment I found on Youtube, click the link above to watch the video of JANGs review of stringer, then scroll down to the comments and it should be there, but no garantee :)

    3. No, I meant a link (similarities) between Hendrix and Stringer, not a link to a website :)

HENDRIX: Talented musician - is that what you mean

    5. I wasn't asking for the similarities, I already knew that there were some similarities between Stringer and Hendrix. In my second comment, I was basically just saying that I assumed that there was a deliberate link between the two, because there are so many similarities.

    6. Okay, so you first commwent was just a statement not a request or something

On a side note to anyone that cares and read my comment from the bulk and core hunter combiner, I've been going under the name of Anonymous, then putting Anonymous 12 under that to show that it is always the same person,me. Then I realized I can use a codename-like-thing instead of my real name, so instead of Anonymous I now dub myself as, drumrole plz, Biotraxx12. Please respond if you want me to stay as Biotraxx12 not Anonymous 12

Yeah, my first comment was a statement (I'm BrickExpert1998, I just decided to change my name). Thanks for helping out anyway, I can see that my comment was vague :). Stick with Biotraxx12, Biotraxx sounds like it could be the name of Goruz's brother :D
