Arrgh very very angry! YouTube has begun automatically enabling those infinitely annoying & bothersome pre-roll ads that force you to watch at least part of them before an actually video starts.
I hate those ads! Maybe if they were only shown briefly at a selectable point in a really long video like a short commercial, they might be tolerable. Always having them right at the beginning, before you see a single second of the actual video you want to see, is infuriating, especially when the video itself is short.
I guess YouTube's research or statistics showed that the extra income from those ads outweighs the number of people who abandon videos altogether when one of those ads starts to play. Well it sure isn't worth it to me! I would disable that style of ads across all of my accounts if I could, but I can't. It has to be done on a video-by-video basis and it's easy to miss or forget.
So, my apologies in advance to anyone who sees one of those reels of crap on any of my videos. I didn't put them there.
I agree. I would be willing to pay money to prevent having to watch those adds. Then again, that might be the next step.

YouTube wants people to see ads.
JANG can disable ads on his videos.
Rebelling against YouTube would not do any good.

ReplyDeleteAlright JANG, if I see a "reel of crap" (as you have so accurately described them) on any of your videos, I will tell you so that you can remove it.
ReplyDeleteHow's about we all just use adblock plus? That's the sensible thing to do, before flipping out about it. It doesn't negate the ads on Jang's videos, but it doesn't make us have to sit through them.

DeleteHey, this is off topic, but I was told by a Lego store employee that Breez and Thornaxx won't be out in the US until March. She said that Lego tells the Lego store workers vaguely when the sets will be released- "spring 2013", etc.- but not specifically when; she was told by someone else (don't know who) that March is the release date for those two sets.

ReplyDeleteThere is an adblocker in Firefox which blocks all of it, and it's wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteProblem with that is by blocking all of the ads including the ones that don't get in the way at all, then everybody who makes their money off ads on their sites & YouTube videos get nothing and get punished for no reason.
